New Year, Healthy You!

Check out my work contributing to the Urbanization blog!

One of the mantras we follow at Urbanization is taking care of your body and being are the keys to happiness and a well balanced life.  We are only given one body and it's important to take care of it.  When you live with healthy habits you look at feel your best!  Here are some of our top tips for a great start to 2015!

Set goals and hold yourself accountable – keep a fitness journal with weekly goals and progress notes. If your goal is to run a marathon, set a goal to increase the miles you can run every week, then write it down. Putting goals on paper makes you more accountable and it’s all the more rewarding when you accomplish them!

Spread the word! - if you tell people about your plans and goals, you are much more likely to follow through. It will hold you accountable and force you to be true to your word. Rally your troops and they will be there to motivate and support you.

Small changes will lead to big results - You’re aiming to make healthy habits that become a part of your everyday life. Start small and take it one day at a time. Examples could be switch whole milk for skim, take the stairs instead of the elevator or swap a donut for yogurt and granola for breakfast.

Stay motivated with rewarding yourself – you deserve to be compensated for your hard work. Treat yourself when you accomplish your goals! Take that vacation or buy that necklace you’ve been keeping an eye on.

Gear up! - nothing motivates me more than wanting to wear my new workout clothes or try out my new yoga mat. If you look the part you will feel the part! Here at Urbanization we are now offering 40% our Solow Sport fitness collection. Check out our amazing selection of performance legging, sports bras, tops and hoodies!

Remind yourself why you’re doing it – at some point you will hit a roadblock. Stop and think about the big picture and how you will feel when you have accomplished your goals. This will help you get past the hiccup and get back on track.

Get moving! - there’s no substitute for physical exercise. The benefits to regular sweat sessions are endless and include increased energy and a toned figure. You don’t have to be a gym rat to get the exercise you need, do activities that you enjoy. Us ladies at Urbanization are big fans of taking our dogs out hiking on our beautiful bay area trails!

Urbanization Feature!

Hi all!

I recently did a photo shoot for one of my favorite boutiques Urbanization San Carlos. We had a blast and I'm super excited to show you my favorite shots!

I wore Knot Sister's Higher Level Pullover in two different ways.  This oversized cropped sweater has a thick waffle stitch with an added asymmetrical cable knit pattern.  There is so much detail in the sweater that you can go very simple with the rest of your outfit.  Pair with fitted bottoms like black skinny jeans or go for a mixed media look with a vegan leather skirt.  Add a longer top as a second layer for more contrast and it will also give you some extra coverage.

Style these great pieces with a pair of flats or boots for a day out and about with friends.  To mix it up throw on a pair of heels for a sexy date night outfit.  You could also possibly wear to work depending on your office dress code.  Layer on some necklaces and you're good to go.  It is very simple but never boring!

All of the clothing I'm wearing is available for purchase online and also at the store in San Carlos, CA!

Aloha to health!

In an effort to begin more healthy habits in 2015, I'm replacing my daily morning caffeine kick with  a shot of vitamins.  I happened to stumble across Aloha and it instantly intrigued me.  I ordered the free sample kit to give it a test run and now I'm hooked.  The packets are packed with nutrients to refresh and energize and they taste great!

The powder comes in convenient little packets and the packaging is so cute.  It's a lovely way to start every morning and it works great for an afternoon pick me up!

Succulent Garden

Much to my dismay I don't have a green thumb.  I love having potted plants and flowers on my dresser or desk at work, but somehow I manage to kill them every time.  I received these small succulent plants as a favor at a wedding back in September and I'm proud to say they're still going strong!

I love my petite little garden that sits on my windowsill :)

Stamp it Out!

I was strolling down Broadway in Soho when I passed a store named Muji.  I had never heard of this company before but the paper good products inside immediately caught my eye.  I have deep routed love for stationary going back to my Lisa Frank days in middle school and this place was exactly the fix I needed.  They have a stamp station where you create your own works of art and needless to say I had a blast!

Bergdordf Goodman

The famous Bergdorf holiday windows!

I watched a documentary on the making of these windows called Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's.  A team of visual merchandisers work all year long to plan execute these famed windows.  They look amazing in person, I hope my pics do them justice!
